Erin Schneider started her career as an Early Childhood Education teacher. She began pet-sitting as a part-time endeavor in 2004. Erin assisted a dog trainer at a local pet store and offered dog-walking services for pet guardians who were unable to exercise their dogs. In 2010, she decided to dedicate herself full-time to pet-sitting and dog-walking. Erin has trained many of her regular dogs during their walks.
Erin started working with reactive dogs when her own dog, Butch, had issues with many different triggers. She educated herself with DVDs and books from positive reinforcement trainers. Erin has used that knowledge to help rescue and rehabilitate dogs that were otherwise in danger of being euthanized.
In 2017, Erin began her journey to becoming a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner. She took the Dog Trainer Foundations course and immediately felt empowered by clicker training. Her dog, Tivoli, who was 10 years old, loved clicker training and was able to overcome many of his fears. Erin then started the Dog Trainer Professional program, earning her title as a Certified Training Partner in late 2017. She began Clayton Canine Academy in 2018 to realize her dream of being a reactive dog trainer. Sadly, Tivoli passed away in 2020. In March 2021, Erin adopted Morty, a rescue who was fearful. Morty is doing well with training and is able to live a less fearful life through positive reinforcement training.
Erin has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is a member of the Greater St. Louis Training Club.
